Andy & Sally's Sunny Seaside Devon Wedding

Wow, what amazing weather Devon was blessed with over the weekend! Taking a risk of getting married on what is a normally a guaranteed washout in Devon – the August Bank Holiday, Andy and Sally struck gold when the sun decided to very definitely keep his hat on! I’d first met groom Andy several years ago during an Open Day at the Dental School in which he was studying and I was working, so it was really rather lovely that, all these years on, now as a practicing Dentist (and a new Dad) Andy asked if I would photograph his wedding to his very lovely bride-to-be, Sally.  Organising their entire wedding in an impressive 6 weeks, Andy and Sally were both suddenly struck by nerves in the morning when they’d realised their wedding day at the Sidmouth Harbour Hotel in Devon had finally (and very swiftly) arrived! Luckily these were soon dissipated once their hand-written vows had been said, watched on by family, friends – and joined in with by their daughter Zoe – and they were able to kick back, relax in the very hot sunshine, take in some sea air and get ready from some serious dancing with the evening’s Ceilidh band (a nod to their Scottish heritage). Highlights included: the mega amounts of sunshine; a slight cake disaster becoming a feature of the day - wonderfully rescued after an unfortunate accident even if it was a tier or two smaller than planned, star baker, and Andy's friend doing an amazing job at batting off cake jokes for the rest of the day; Sally & Andy's lovely little daughter Zoe's amazingly timed cheer when Andy was referring to the bond between father and daughter; Sally & Andy being asked if they'd got married that day after taking a stroll down onto the beach (wedding dresses must not be standard beach-wear ;); the dancing - oh the dancing! I love a Ceilidh! Andy, Sally – it was an honour to be able to photograph your special day, and I wish you both the very best of happiness for your married lives together in your lovely little family :).
