Lucy & Ken's Summer Wedding at the Awesome Sopley Mill

Travelling up to Dorset from South Devon I was looking forward to photographing Ken and Lucy’s wedding at the beautiful Sopley Mill, a fine old watermill flanked by the river Avon. After staying in the world’s cutest Air b’n’b the night before (think mini-Mediterranean holiday-villa) it was a leisurely breakfast before heading off for Lucy and Ken’s afternoon ceremony. After yet another day where bad weather had been forecast, the clouds burned away to hot sunshine and everyone was able to mill around (no pun intended) outside the beautiful old building before heading up to the top floor for the ceremony. Highlights of the day included: the venue – such a unique wedding venue and the views from the top floor across the meadows were gorgeous; Lucy’s beautiful hand-made dress; the very dapper little page boy with his dinosaur-themed outfit; how musical the ceremony was – a string quartet followed by the whole wedding party singing at the end; the speeches – Ken’s sentiments to Lucy were beautiful; Lucy and Ken’s friends and family - so much laughter on the day; one of their very kind guests who had photographed weddings and kept checking to see whether I needed a drink or help with anything which was very sweet; the surroundings – meadows, ponies, what’s not to love; some epic dancing on the dance-floor once the band started. Lucy, Ken it was a real pleasure photographing your beautiful wedding day and I wish you both every happiness together.
