Vinne and Kate's Lakeside Devon Wedding at Canonteign Falls
/On a mega week of photographing 4 weddings in a row, last but by certainly no means least came Vinnie and Kate’s wonderful lakeside wedding at the Devon beauty spot Canonteign Falls. Home of the country’s highest waterfall, the last time i’d visited Canonteign was to abseil off the waterfall for Brain Tumour Research! A slightly more relaxed day was in store for me this time (and no requirement to don a wetsuit!). After getting off to a dramatic start with Kate's arrival on the back of a motorbike, Vinnie and Kate’s love of nature, woodlands and animals was evident throughout their day with their relaxed outdoor ceremony, delicious vegan food and awesome masquerade animal masks. It ended up being a beautifully warm day allowing guests to explore the expansive grounds of this Devon destination, with some even hiking right to the top of the falls to view the beautiful views as darkness fell. It was also a wedding first for me - never before have the bride and groom been hauled off in a Police car at the end of the night! Albeit a NYC cop car - it take all of us a little while to figure out that the Police weren’t really turning up to call a halt to proceedings! What an exit! Highlights of the day included: the cakes, oh my, the cakes - they were beautiful - all four of them!; Kate’s beaming smile at Vinnie all day; the beautifully decorated barn (Vinnie’s fairy-light bedecked gramophone included!); Kate’s mum’s enthusiasm on the dance floor; some epic rock’n’roll dance moves being showcased - some seriously talented couple’s at this party; Vinnie and Kate’s nod to nature in their outfits; that exit from the venue, sirens blaring! Vinnie, Kate - the love and joy between you is evident for all to see, and I wish you both a long and happily married life together!
