Destination Wedding Singapore - Shermien and Kai

Sometimes the life of a Devon wedding photographer can lead to shores from the furthest reaches of Devon and Cornwall, in the most unusual of ways. Back in Autumn 2015, Shermien and Kai booked me to do their engagement shoot. The twist being that they live in Singapore, but had decided, after living in the UK to study before returning to their home country of Singapore, that they would like to return to the UK for a destination engagement shoot. Shermien and Kai had never been to Devon before, and in particular loved the idea of Dartmoor, this is what led them to finding me.

Shermien and Kai had never been to Devon before, and in particular loved the idea of Dartmoor, this is what led them to finding me. We met on a typically rainy autumn day on the fringes of Dartmoor, Devon, and enjoyed a fun few hours shooting and taking a spin up onto a chilly, soggy Dartmoor.

I delivered the photographs, and sometime later, received an email from Shermien asking if I would like to leave Devon to fly to Singapore to photograph their Singapore wedding ceremony. I didn't need to be asked twice! We'd had built a great rapport on their engagement shoot and I loved the idea that would lead me to end up photographing their wedding in Singapore, I love it when a story forms a full circle and felt really touched to be asked. Fast-forward to November 2016 and I touched down at Changi International Airport, greeted by a wall of humid heat (and bride-to-be Shermien's welcoming face as she'd kindly come to collect me from the airport).

I spent a day finding my feet, exploring the sights, acclimatising to the heat (I love the heat). As a Devon wedding photographer, this was my first stay in Singapore having only passed through it before en route to Bali and Kuta, Indonesia. 8 miles where covered on foot, rewarded by a Singapore Sling before getting prepared for Shermien and Kai's Singapore Wedding the following day.
