Karina and Alex's Intimate Trevenna Barns Covid Wedding in Cornwall

After an entire summer season as a wedding photographer in 2020 shooting no weddings (I still can’t quite believe I am typing that), Karina and Alex’s intimate wedding day at Trevenna Barns in Cornwall was a big moment for us all! Alex and Karina had originally planned to wed back in May, having booked with me a fair while back after we bonded over flying and cats (sadly not a joint-combo) when we first chatted on the phone. They were sadly one of many couples who had to postpone their 2020 summer wedding due to the Coronavirus global pandemic, and reaching their postponed wedding date was certainly a test of nerves as restrictions on weddings being able to take place, and with a small reception, finally lifted not long before their new small big day - and not long before restrictions reduced the numbers being able to attend weddings again. What a rollercoaster ride! On arriving at Trevenna though, all of those worries, the stress and the upheaval melted away as Alex and Karina FINALLY got to look forward to getting married. Ironically my last, and first wedding of the year was also at Trevenna Barns so it was fitting that my first wedding after the lockdown was also back at Trevenna. Despite having had to very much change their original plans and essentially take a more fluid approach to how the day might take shape, Karina and Alex’s day was thoroughly awesome, and moving (though some nervous hiccups helped distract from any early tears during the vows ;)); after a rainy start to the day the sun came out long enough to allow for a beautiful outdoor intimate wedding ceremony, followed by a stroll in the sun before the Cornish mist rolled in for the rest of the day. Even without dancing, the delicious food, catching up with family from many countries in many tongues, a slightly thwarted attempt at a sparkler tunnel due to the short burning sparklers, a very cute puppy and best of all, a bouncy castle - Alex and Karina’s small wedding day was very definitely a success, a beautiful day and I am sure one that they (and I too) will remember for many years to come. Alex, Karina - congratulations to you both, and I am so glad you finally got there! Wishing you many, many years of happiness to come - love can conquer all, even a global pandemic.
