About Amy

Wedding photographer Amy Sampson photographed at the WYRD photography retreat in the Peak District

I’m Amy, a laid back, nature loving, humorous soul with a deep passion for wilding and wildlife; renovating our cottage with vintage and up-cycled finds; drinking cocktails at quirky bars; adventuring with my life partner, exploring other cultures and countries in our van or seeking out home-stays or unique places in which to absorb life like a local.

Between us we have a passion for analogue media, both with my love of analogue 35mm and 120mm photography and our bookbinding business where we restore and breathe life into family heirlooms or treasured first editions. In a digital era, there’s a real romance and nostalgia tied-up in the physical, tangible realm that excites us both.

I could lose hours in a second-hand bookstore!

I also befriend random cats. Can’t pass a cat without seeing if it responds to “puss, puss”.

A person taking a mirror selfie in a room with a camera, wearing a patterned shirt and dark pants, with hand in pocket, curly hair tied up, and a room with closed door and wall decorations in the background.

I am obsessed with analogue film cameras, at last count, I own 13! I love grabbing one and indulging in street photography or documenting the natural world as it changes around me. Both these subject matters influence my wedding photography.

I also LOVE dancing. Albeit I have two left-feet, but you won’t find me loitering on the side of your wedding dancefloor, I love getting in the thick of it after a day of your friends and family feeling used to, and comfortable in my presence. My longest dancefloor stint has been a solid 5-hours. Getting to party vicariously through other people is one of my favourite things about this job!

Self-confessed coffee snob (James Hoffman has much to answer for), I have been known to trek an hour across London when visiting, to try an enticing coffee shop. I don’t take life too seriously, have a daft sense of humour and am one of life’s optimists.
